Chop the tomatoes and place them over a strainer for 5 minutes. Discard the liquid to prevent the salsa from being too wet.

Add the drained tomatoes, onion, cilantro, lime juice, jalapeno, ground cumin, salt, black pepper, and sugar to a blender or food processor. Use short pulses to blend to your desired consistency.

Transfer the salsa to a jar and store it in the refrigerator for up to one week.
