                In a cocktail shaker, combine the fresh cherries and simple syrup. Muddle until the cherries are fully broken down and release their juices.

                Pour in the bourbon, fresh lemon juice, and bitters. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.

                Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Top with a splash of club soda. Skewer Luxardo or maraschino cherries on a cocktail pick and place them on top. Serve immediately.
