Place the sliced onion at the bottom of a slow cooker. Season the pork shoulder with smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and place it on top of the onions.

Pour chicken broth over the pork, cover with the lid, and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Mix in the barbecue sauce.

Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns with coleslaw, if desired.
