Tender beef patties smothered in creamy onion gravy, baked until perfectly juicy - a comforting Amish-inspired family meal.

# Ingredients:

→ Hamburger Steaks

01 - 2 lbs ground beef, 80/20 blend
02 - ½ cup breadcrumbs, plain or seasoned
03 - 1 egg, beaten
04 - 1 onion, finely diced
05 - 2 teaspoons salt
06 - 1 teaspoon black pepper

→ Creamy Gravy

07 - 3 tablespoons butter, salted or unsalted
08 - 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
09 - 2 cups beef broth, low sodium preferred
10 - 1 cup heavy cream
11 - 1 onion, sliced
12 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder

# Steps to Follow:

01 - In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper.
02 - Form the mixture into 6–8 oval-shaped patties and let them rest.
03 - Brown patties in an oven-safe skillet for 3–4 minutes per side until golden; remove and set aside.
04 - In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions in butter. Add flour, stir for 2 minutes, then whisk in broth and cream.
05 - Nestle patties into the gravy, cover tightly, and bake at 175°C (350°F) for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
06 - Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Letting the patties rest allows flavors to meld together and keeps the meat tender.
