Chicken Sausage and Broccoli Orzo (Print Version)

A hearty one-pot meal combining tender orzo, browned chicken sausage and fresh broccoli in a savory Italian-seasoned broth.

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 cups orzo pasta
02 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
03 - 1 pound chicken sausage, sliced
04 - 2 cups broccoli florets
05 - 3 cloves garlic, minced
06 - 4 cups chicken broth
07 - 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
08 - Salt, to taste
09 - Pepper, to taste
10 - 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
11 - 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

# Steps to Follow:

01 - In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
02 - Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
03 - Stir in the broccoli florets and cook for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
04 - Add the orzo, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
05 - Cover and cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid.
06 - Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.
07 - Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

# Additional Notes:

01 - For a creamier version, stir in 1/4 cup of heavy cream just before serving.
02 - You can substitute the chicken sausage with turkey sausage or a plant-based sausage for a different flavor profile.
